Amata's Story

Seduced by an older man and sexually abused as a young girl, Amata was rescued and arrived with us at New Horizons House in December 2021. After a lot of time spent working with our expert counselers, she grew less argumentative and more interested in her studies. In particular, she joined a math group at Junior College and developed good English language skills. She continues to work very hard at her studies and is determined to get good grades in her exams.

Part of our restoration program is to prepare girls for a future where they can gain dignified, stable employment so that they might never find themselves in the situations of vulnerability that lead to girls becoming repeat victims of sexual assault. Amata’s dream for her future is to continue pursuing higher education with the goal of securing a job in finance as a bank officer. We have seen just how hard she works and will support her every step of the way!
