Left with no one after her mother died and her father abandoned her, Nan came to stay with us at New Horizon’s House. In the beginning, she was suffering mentally with depression and physically with illness. Our expert staff provided her with the medical care she so needed to recover allowing her to take the first steps on the road to recovery and restoration.
She slowly began to come out of her shell, interacting with the other girls and engaging in our aftercare program activities learning cooking, computer and tailoring skills. She learned to recognise and manage her emotions as they arose and slowly but surely over a nine month period she began to overcome the trauma she had experienced.
Nan aspires to become a medical nurse and is currently studying public health work in college.
