Dear NHH Friends & Supporters,

We hope this newsletter finds you well as we head into the Fall Season!

Southern India was hit with historic flooding this past month. The Budameru River flooded 40% of the city and stranded 275,000 people in a dozen residential areas. Thankfully New Horizons’ campus was not affected by the flooding but some of our previous graduates in the city of Vijayawada were. They received support from friends of New Horizons who stepped up to assist them with clothing, food, and other essentials. We ask you please send prayers for the city of Vijayawada as they continue to recover from this event.

Since the flooding has ceased, construction of the new Transition House is proceeding. Fill work has already been completed and we are getting ready to begin construction of the perimeter wall. We are eager to get more work started and ask for your prayers with this process!

The girls at NHH are doing well and have resumed schooling post-flooding. Esther and several of the Transition House girls have been reaching out to local schools and churches to educate youth about the dangers of trafficking (photo). They discuss topics like ‘good touch and bad touch,’ emphasize the importance of protecting their bodies, and share personal stories that are appropriate for their audience. Esther mentioned that the Transition House girls have played a crucial role in supporting her prevention efforts. She noted that when the NHH girls speak, the young audience is particularly attentive and engaged, and she deeply appreciates having them by her side.

There was a surprise inspection by government officials at NHH this past month. Their 46-page report concluded that, compared to other homes, NHH is “more than sufficient and the girls appear healthy and happy.”  The inspectors themselves were noted to have come in with serious faces and left smiling, a testament to God’s great work at NHH and the dedication of our in-country staff!

We praise God for His hand in guiding this work and we cannot thank YOU enough for being a part it.  You are making a difference in the lives of our girls!

Blessings,
