As the girls and young women continue to flourish at New Horizons House (NHH) in India under the care and guidance of our incredible staff, we understand that our mission of transformation must be managed with great transparency and strategic planning. This responsibility falls to the NHH board which has recently undergone a transformation of its own.
At the last NHH board meeting held via Zoom on September 28th, we officially welcomed five new board members to our governing body.
Esther Medidi – Esther has served as our Chief Functionary for NHH in India since it opened in 2018. She has a background in teaching, and the girls and staff see her as a compassionate and strong leader at both the Podu Safehouse and the Transition Home in Bhimavaram. In 2022, Esther was awarded the World Women Icon Award by the Global Triumph Foundation for her outstanding contributions to child development in India.

Tammy White – Tammy grew up in California and Colorado and currently resides in south Florida. She has a BS in Finance, an MBA, and serves as a Director for PwC Cybersecurity. She specializes in cyber risk management, technology governance and compliance, third party risk management, and data privacy. Tammy has been actively involved in the hiring and development of female IT/cyber practitioners for many decades and is thrilled to parlay her passion for helping women into deeply purposeful work with New Horizons House.

Shanna Scott – Shanna has spent the last decade providing pastoral leadership and overseeing local City Engagement and Global Missions at Denver United Church. She has a graduate degree in Forensic Psychology and a history of working with individuals involved in the justice system. Shanna feels called to care for the marginalized, unseen, and underserved in the US and abroad. She is passionate about sharing the love of Christ while building relationships and empowering those who often are overlooked in society. Shanna is a Colorado native and currently lives in Florida with her husband, Matt, and her son, Carter.

Katrina Zimmerman – Katrina’s heart for eradicating human trafficking came through a mission opportunity in the summer of 2013 when she served in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with a local anti-trafficking organization. Upon graduation from CU-Boulder in 2013, she started her professional career as an elementary educator. She is currently working as a social worker at a local nonprofit that provides services to individuals with disabilities. She is also pursuing her MSW (Masters in Social Work) at Metro State University. Katrina lives in Denver with her husband, Michael.

Rachel Eichhorn – Rachel is a Colorado native who lives in the Denver area. She currently works as a practice manager for a mental health office and is passionate about healing on all levels. Due to her own personal story of trauma, Rachel believes it is essential to support the lives of others on their journey towards holistic healing. She is excited to be a part of an organization like NHH that lives out this mission and supports girls and young women in their own stories of healing and transformation. Rachel is currently in India visiting the NHH facility with a mission team from Denver United Church.

These five new board members bring a wealth of strengths and experiences to our organization, and we are thrilled to have them as part of our NHH family.
Respectfully,
Tim Hillmer
Board Member
