This is Nina (name changed to protect her privacy). She has been at NHH for 5 months and with the extensive work the NHH Counselors and House Mothers she is beginning to get over the nightmares of abuse in her past.
Both of Nina’s parents were killed in a car accident when she was 4, her older sisters committed suicide, and she was left in a “care” facility where the director came at midnight and selected one of the dozen girls to sexually abuse that night. Girls who did not comply were severely beaten. This was Nina’s life.

Nina was fed only rice, porridge and water and looks to be 8 or 9 years old…actually she is 15 and has lived half of her life in fear of the night. She tried to escape 10 times and was badly beaten.
Nina had two “teachers”…the first women only taught the girls how to sexually please the director. Subsequently a male teacher encouraged her education and facilitated her escape to an aunts house, where after some time she revealed the horrific conditions she and other girls had been living under. They went to a police station and filed a report that resulted in the arrest of the director and rescue of all the young girls imprisoned in the facility.
Nina is on a multiyear path of counseling and education along with the other girls at NHH, who support and encourage each other in that journey.
Dear friends, this is what you are doing…yes, you are doing this…as it couldn’t be done without you. You are giving hope and saving the lives of 68 young girls currently at NHH.
Bless you for caring,
Mike Graves
