Dear Friends of New Horizons House,
Did you know that every Sunday morning, a group of our Board Members has a video call with our team in India to discuss updates, share stories, and brainstorm ideas to ensure that NHH continues to thrive? We look forward to it each week, and it’s a great opportunity to touch base and learn about all of the amazing things your donations are helping to make possible.
In the last few weeks, there have been some exciting updates. One that I’m particularly thrilled about is the purchase of a new vehicle for the home that will allow our girls to attend classes at Browning Junior College. We currently have 13 girls from New Horizons House in Podu attending school at Browning, plus another 4 girls from the Transition Home. The new vehicle will ensure that all of the girls have a safe and reliable way to get to and from school every day. The current driver has been with us for years, and the girls trust him. He is caring, hospitable, and prioritizes the security of the girls above all else. We are lucky to have him, and excited to have a new vehicle that will accommodate all of the girls who wish to go to school.
These girls have chosen various fields of study depending on their interests. We have girls focused on computer science, healthcare, math, history, physical therapy, cardiovascular health, biology, nursing, accounting, and hospital management. Some of healthcare classes even include a practical component at the local hospital, where the girls get hands-on experience putting their education into practice. It’s a fantastic opportunity for them, and it’s so encouraging to see their desire to learn and expand their horizons. When you consider the situations that these girls were in before coming to New Horizons House, and how far they’ve come since then, it truly gives you pause. You are the reason this is possible. You are changing lives.
Thank you so much for your consistent generosity – we couldn’t do any of this without you.
