Dear Friends of New Horizons House,
Summer has a quiet way of moving fast. There’s no big fundraiser on the calendar this month and no single headline moment to share, just steady, faithful progress. The kind that can be easy to miss if you’re not paying attention, but the kind that is building a future for our girls, brick by brick and lesson by lesson.
The Safe House welcomes a girl at the beginning of her journey. After her rescue is the beginning of healing, and the restoration of a story that could have been lost. The Safe House is designed for safety, protection, and stabilization after unimaginable trauma.
The Transition Home is her next step, an extension of that healing that empowers and equips her with the education, life skills, support, and opportunities she needs to build an independent future.
How symbolic is that as construction on our new Transition Home in Bhimavaram, adjoining Browning College continues to move forward brick by brick, so do our girls. Soon, it will provide even more of them with a safe, stable place to live while they pursue university degrees, nursing certifications, technical training, and careers of their own.
And we have exciting news to share! In 2026, SIX girls chose to move from the Safe House into the Transition Home. For these six young women, this move represents so much more than a change of where they sleep. It is the next step toward independence and adulthood, a chance to continue their education while learning to navigate life with greater confidence and responsibility. They join other young women already studying computer science, medical laboratory technology, and nursing, as well as those beginning their careers and working in the local hospital.
Without the Transition Home, many young women would leave the Safe House facing an unknown future. They would still face barriers such as limited education, little work experience, financial instability, and the challenge of navigating adulthood without a healthy support system. These realities can leave survivors vulnerable to exploitation simply because they lack safe, sustainable alternatives.
Place yourself in their shoes at the young age of 18. Can you imagine moving forward without support? Maybe you can. Maybe that was you, and you fully understand the significance of having someone continue to walk beside you.
That is what the Transition Home offers. It serves as a bridge between rescue, healing, growth, and independence. It gives these young women the time, support, education, and practical skills they need as they step into adulthood and build a future of their own. When many of these girls first came to New Horizons House, their circumstances gave them very little reason to believe a future like this was possible. Today, they are building that future one class, one exam, one semester, and one brave step at a time. And really, that is the story of New Horizons House.
Transformation doesn’t always happen in one dramatic moment. More often, it happens through small, consistent acts of love and commitment repeated over time. A safe place to sleep, another year of school, someone believing in you, the opportunity to learn a skill, and the confidence to imagine a different future. It’s also the same kind of steady commitment so many of you make each month through your giving.
Together, through these seemingly small and faithful steps, you are leaving the world a better place than you found it.
P.S. A monthly gift helps ensure a seventh girl can make this same move soon.
Thank you for partnering with us,
