What Is Your Why?

It has been heavy on my heart lately…. why? Why do I do this work? Why do I support? Why do I stay in it?
Why?
Why do so many of you care?
Why do so many of you show up?
Why do so many of you give your time, resources, and hearts to something that may feel far away from our everyday lives?
For many of us who partner with New Horizons House, the answer begins with a relationship.
My “why” is simple, yet deeply personal:
I believe in the power of women healing together. I believe in watching a woman reclaim her life after trauma. I believe in the moment when fear begins to turn into courage, when shame is replaced by dignity, and when a woman realizes she is not defined by what happened to her.
I believe in support when men become involved in the healing process. I also believe in wounded stories becoming part of the change in one person’s life, starting a movement that lights a fire of impact.
My why is seeing women heal and transform their lives when they are given the tools, the safety, and the community they deserve.
At New Horizons House, this is exactly what happens every day.
Young girls who have been rescued from trafficking or sexual abuse arrive with unimaginable stories. But what they encounter is something powerful: a safe home, compassionate care, and a pathway forward. Through trauma counseling, education, medical care, vocational training, and a supportive community, they are given the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Restoration does not happen overnight.
It happens in relationships.
It happens in community.
It happens when someone looks at a girl and says: Your life matters. Your future matters.
It happens when one healed girl is empowered to help another on her healing journey.
And that is why I continue this work.
Because every girl deserves a chance to heal.
Every girl deserves the opportunity to reclaim her voice.
And every restored life has the power to transform the world around her.
So I ask you:
What is your why?
