April 2024 Issue

April 17th, 2024

Dear NHH Friends & Supporters,
Last week we held our annual “Evening Under the Mango Trees” at the Highlands Ranch Mansion in Denver. 2024 marks the 10 th anniversary of New Horizons House, and the fundraising event was a tremendous success with over 140 participants showing up to support the girls and staff in India. During a fun and lively evening, a wide variety of vacation trips, hotel stays, airline tickets, restaurant certificates, gift baskets, art, jewelry, and fine wine were auctioned off.

The NHH board would like to thank everyone who helped out as well as all who participated. As we mentioned, the number of girls being served by New Horizons has increased by 500% in the last 4 years. Accordingly, in 2023, we launched a capital campaign to purchase land and fund construction of a larger, more functional dormitory for our older girls. [If you weren’t able to attend but would still like to make a donation, it’s not too late. Thanks to an anonymous donor, we still have some matching funds available to close out this capital campaign. Please go to our website (www.newhorizonshouse.org) and make your gift by April 30th to see your donation DOUBLED.

Christina Brinkerhoff with Valkyrie Gives (a Colorado-based anti-trafficking non-profit and NHH partner) was our featured presenter and spoke about her experience visiting the New Horizons House facility two years ago. She closed with this motivational and challenging quote from Mary Oliver: “Tell me, what else should I have done? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” That’s the question we continue to ask ourselves on behalf of the girls we serve at New Horizons.
