I want to share with you two things I came across earlier this month:
The first was a sobering statistic reported by the New York Times on September 1, 2016:
According to government crime data, human trafficking in India increased by 25 percent in 2015 compared to the previous year. More than 40 percent of these cases involved children being bought, sold and exploited as modern day slaves. Hard to fathom isn’t it?
The second was a quote by the late Robert F. Kennedy: "Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. And crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
At New Horizons House, we are committed to standing up for girls who have no other voice. Your continued partnership enables us to make a difference and provide hope to those who have none. Thanks to you, the first building is now finished and we are completing construction of the driveway and perimeter fence. I’ve included a couple of photos here; you can see more on our website http://newhorizonshouse.org/construction-progress/.
Once the monsoons end in late October, we plan to break ground on the first dormitory building.
The Justice Run is coming up on October 2 and we’d love to have you join us! If you’re in Denver, you can sign up on our website to run/walk with us at Hudson Gardens in Littleton.
As we move into the holidays, would you consider a generous year-end contribution to assist us? Also, a number of folks have volunteered to host a “Dessert with a Purpose” in their home to help us get the word out. More details are available on our website at http://newhorizonshouse.org/opportunities/. Thanks.
