Meet Our Board
President- Jonathan Spencer
Secretary - Mike Graves
After devoting 30 years to a successful career in environmental engineering, Jonathan served as Chief Operating Officer for Healing Waters International in Golden, CO from 2010 – 2013. He served as the Deacon of Missions for the Lakewood Church of Christ from 2005 – 2011 where he coordinated a variety of teams involved in international development and community outreach in India and Haiti. From 2008 – 2014 he also served on the Board of Dry Bones Denver, a non-profit committed to establishing relationships and providing restoration services to homeless teens in Denver, CO. He currently lives in Littleton, CO with his wife Rena.
Mike retired early from his position as VP & Manufacturing Manager in the Office Imaging Division at Eastman Kodak. This has allowed him to fulfill his desire to do charitable work and pursue his love of art and painting.
Mike has served as trustee and officer in six non-profits and he provides a wealth of administrative experience to New Horizons. He and his wife, Diane, are also active members of their church.
Board Member - Steve Curtis
Board Member - Margo Parks
Steve currently serves as Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church of Christ in Lakewood, CO. Steve has lived or worked in a number of cross-cultural missions settings such as India, Guatemala, Siberia, Haiti, England, Australia and New Zealand.
He has also served as Vice-President of the board of directors for Evergreen Christian Outreach (a non-profit which provides assistance to unemployed families) and has worked as a Financial Adviser and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).
Margo worked in corporate America for many years before deciding to get her Master’s degree in Christian Counseling and her Ph.D in Urban Ministry.
She and her husband, who is also a Christian Counselor, work together in the marriage ministry at their church and as Dynamic Marriage facilitators. They are both active members of the Littleton Church of Christ where Tyrone serves as an Elder.
Board Member - Tim Hillmer
Board Member - Christine Spencer
Tim Hillmer taught for 32 years and served as a classroom teacher and mentor in the Boulder Valley School District. He lives in Louisville with his wife, Nancy. He has two daughters, Rachel and Carly, who are both public school teachers.
He is an active member of Common Cathedral, a ministry to the homeless, that meets every Friday night at a park in Longmont.
Christie grew up in Rochester, New York and moved out to the Midwest after graduating from St. Lawrence University in 2014 with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology. She now lives in Madison, Wisconsin where she works in Human Resources and Recruiting for an IT consulting firm.
Christie is an active member of Blackhawk Church and serves as a leader in the Children’s Ministry, working with children under 18 months of age. She has been actively involved with NHH since it’s beginnings and was excited to increase her involvement by joining the Board of Directors in October of 2017.
