Meet Our Board
After devoting 30 years to a successful career in environmental engineering, Jonathan served as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Water Technology for Healing Waters International in Golden, CO from 2010 – 2013. He served as the Deacon of Missions for the Lakewood Church of Christ in Lakewood, CO from 2005 – 2011 where he coordinated a variety of teams involved in international development and community outreach. From 2008 – 2014 he served on the Board of Dry Bones Denver, a non-profit committed to establishing relationships and providing restoration services to homeless teens in Denver, CO.
Mike retired early from his position as VP & Manufacturing Manager in the Office Imaging Division at Eastman Kodak. This has allowed him to fulfill his desire to do charitable work and pursue his love of art and painting. Mike has served as trustee and officer in six non-profits and he provides a wealth of administrative experience to New Horizons. He and his wife, Diane, are also active members of their church.
Steve currently serves as Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church of Christ in Lakewood, CO. Steve has lived or worked in a number of cross-cultural missions settings such as India, Guatemala, Siberia, Haiti, England, Australia and New Zealand. He has also served as Vice-President of the board of directors for Evergreen Christian Outreach (a non-profit which provides assistance to unemployed families) and has worked as a Financial Adviser and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).
Though Margo Parks was born in a different state her family decided to move to Colorado when she was a year and a half. It is here where she went to school and met her future beloved husband. Having worked in corporate America for many years Margo decided to get her degree and got hooked on education. The passion of her heart is to encourage women and in helping everyone have a wonderful marriage. To that end Margo got her Master’s degree in Christian Counseling and her Ph.D in Urban Ministry. She and her husband, who is also a Christian Counselor, work together in the marriage ministry at their church and as Dynamic Marriage facilitators. They are both active members of the Littleton Church of Christ where Tyrone serves as an Elder.
Jim left the energy industry in late 2014 after a 32-year career as a Geophysicist and Asset manager. His non-profit experience includes serving on the board of Dry Bones – Denver from 2002-2013 (Board President 2005-2012) and as an Elder for the Lakewood Church of Christ since 2001. Other volunteer roles include Whiz Kids tutoring, Prepare/Enrich marriage mentor, and Big Brothers.
Christie grew up in Rochester, New York and moved out to the Midwest after graduating from St. Lawrence University in 2014 with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology. She now lives in Madison, Wisconsin where she works in Human Resources and Recruiting for an IT consulting firm. Christie is an active member of Blackhawk Church and serves as a leader in the Children’s Ministry, working with children under 18 months of age. She has been actively involved with NHH since it’s beginnings and was excited to increase her involvement by joining the Board of Directors in October of 2017.
Tim Hillmer taught for 32 years and served as a classroom teacher and mentor in the Boulder Valley School District. He lives in Louisville with his wife, Nancy. He has two daughters, Rachel and Carly, who are both public school teachers. He is an active member of Common Cathedral, a ministry to the homeless, that meets every Friday night at a park in Longmont. He is also a writer and has published novels, short stories, and poetry in a wide variety of publications. He currently supervises student teachers through the University of Colorado-Boulder.
